I don’t know if any of you feel the same way as I do, but light is an amazing thing according to science. They say that many of the stars that we see in the night sky are not even there anymore. The reason why is because it takes light so long to reach the earth. They say that it takes light 4 years to reach the Earth from Sirius, which is one of our neighboring stars in the galaxy. Can you believe that? Here we are looking at stars that aren’t even there anymore because they have long burned out. I wonder how many churches today appear to be a beacon of light but have long burned out. The church sign is lit up but the fire has gone out. Some churches are no longer places where the word of God Is preached powerfully and un-apologetically from the pulpit. Some churches are no longer places where unceasing prayers are being lifted up with passion. Some churches are no longer places where the people of God are worshiping Jesus in spirit and in truth. They are simply places where dead saints gather together all in the name of religion and tradition. Someone once said, “The church is dying and no one is noticing because we're wasting time criticizing rather than evangelizing. The days are darker, which means our resolve must be stronger and our convictions clearer. This is not the hour to trade in work boots for flip-flops.” Ephesians 5:8 says, "For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light." Go out and shine His light today!
