Persistence has been described as, taking a stand, standing firm, remaining unchanged, and fixed on a certain position consistently. The bible has a lot to say about the topic of persistence and the idea of asking. Especially when asking God for something. In James we are told, “You do not have because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss.” Jesus said, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him! Guys, we need to be the people of God who are persistent in our prayer life. Jeremiah 33:3 says, “Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ I think it’s healthy for the Christian spiritually to get out on a limb sometimes and say something like, “God its either you or nothing, it’s either you come through with a miracle, or those unsaved family members are going to perish in their sins. We need to intercede for people believing that God is able to reach them. We need to stand in the gap for lost people. God wants to save them but He also wants us to pray for them. C. H. Spurgeon said, “As artists give themselves to their models, and poets to their classical pursuits, so must we addict ourselves to prayer.”
